During unsure times, a person may often say “I’m going to trust God in this.” This could occur before a job interview, a bad health diagnosis or an opportunity of any sort.
What does it actually mean to trust God?
Does it mean to trust that He will ensure the outcome you want takes place?
Or does it mean that whatever happens, you still trust God?
When many people use the phrase “I’m going to trust God” in relation to a particular situation, what they often truly mean is “I’m going to trust God that I’m going to get what I want.”
When the event goes the way the person expected, they might think it was God’s deliberate hand in the situation… but when the event does not go the way they had faith it would, they either rationalize it away or lose “trust” in God.
Trusting God should be about trust in who God is, not in what He will do for us. As sinners, we don’t deserve anything from God, and it’s only through Jesus that we have been given the amazing gift of grace.
When things go wrong, we shouldn’t wonder why God did not act as we so desired, but we should be content that God is present in our lives always, when things are fantastic or when things are extremely difficult.
God is always good, and His goodness is not relevent to anything that happens here on earth.
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
